Last week marked our big start to a lifelong journey of offering health and healing. We were so happy to have a great turnout from the community as they came to take a tour, eat some food, receive free massages, and hear our big announcement. Since some of you weren't able to be here and were wondering what our announcement is, we thought we'd fill you in...
Ever since Crystal and I started making plans to open our own office, we've planned on giving back. We recognize how much we have in our lives and we want others to experience the same blessings and good fortune we have had. As a result, we planned on starting foundations that help raise people from their current state. Our goal is to raise over $100,000 for such efforts in our first 10 years.
Although we had big dreams, we didn't know exactly how or when we were going to do this. That all changed 2 weeks ago when we had a stroke of inspiration. We were considering how to help our patients with some of their postural muscles to reinforce the healing process we initiate here in the office. We came up with the idea of creating a community yoga class that's free to our patients and the public on Saturday mornings. We then realized how we could take it one step further and help support other people in our community and around the world to have resources they need to succeed. It was at this time that we found our name, Movement: Yoga with a Purpose.
We are very excited to announce the kick-off event of Movement this Saturday morning @ 8:30-9:30 AM in Winter Park right off of Park Avenue. Please feel free to bring friends, family and anyone else that you think could benefit from having a professionally taught yoga session to start off your weekend.
For the next 3 months, we will be supporting the Operation Underground Railroad foundation from the donations collected at our yoga class. This effort is made of former CIA and Navy Seals who go to countries that deal with human trafficking. They stage set ups in which the perpetrators are arrested and those being trafficked are rescued. Those who are freed are either rejoined with their families or placed with families and provided with counseling and other services to help them to thrive once again.
