Trigger Finger

Trigger finger is an issue seen among middle-aged to older populations that can effect any of the digits of the hand.  The cause of trigger finger originates when a tendon from one of the fingers passes through a small tunnel also known as a sheath.  Each tendon of the finger has it's own individual sheath it has to pass through to get the finger to contract.

These tendons will rub and often-times create a great deal of friction that can cause scar tissue to build up.   Many people will notice this accumulation of tissue at the base of their first knuckle.

Eventually the scar tissue will cause the tendons of the fingers to get caught.  When this occurs the finger will get stuck in the flexed position and it can be very difficult to straighten it out again without some effort.

This condition can be treated with non-surgical intervention by a Hand and Foot Chiropractor.  If you're interested in learning more about Orlando's premier Foot, Knee & Hand Chiropractor, Dr. Joel Dayton, click on the link below to further explore treatment options.
