Tennis Elbow Treatment

With studies being released about the dangers of short-term steroid use to reduce pain, many people are looking for new treatments that have less risks.  Tennis elbow has historically been treated through cortisone injections, rest and perhaps a brace.  However, there are much more effective ways of treating lateral epicondylitis than what has been used in the past.

Often times tennis elbow is caused by the joints of the elbow not moving correctly.  This leads to excess strain being placed on the muscular and soft tissue attachments on the outside of the elbow.

Chiropractic adjustments can be used to adjust the elbow to help restore natural movement patterns to the joint.  This decreases inflammation and allows the soft tissues to be stretched less.

Acupuncture therapy has proven to be another effective means of treating tennis elbow.  In fact, the medical journal Rheumatology published a study that reinforced the validity of using acupuncture for tennis elbow.

Additional therapies including massage, Kinesio-taping, specified exercises, and soft tissue treatments can also be very beneficial to help treat someone suffering with tennis elbow.
